WS Cards of the Day – 08/19/14

Analysis: No matter how many times you look at this card, there will rarely ever be a time you want a 2/2 9000 power vanilla in your deck.

Not Understanding What Happened, Chitoge

[Auto] When 1 of your other characters with either <Key> and/or <Weapon> attacks, this card gains +1000 Power for the turn.
[Auto] [(1)] When a Level 2 or higher battle opponent of this card becomes reversed, you may pay cost. If so, search your library for up to 1 character with either <Key> and/or <Weapon>, reveal it, put it in your hand, and shuffle your library.

Analysis: One of those conditional level 2s that costs 1 stock. It has a fairly strong base power of 7500 and gets +1000 power if another one of your characters with the Key or Weapon keyword attacks. The second ability is also strong on a common but requires you to reverse a level 2 or higher battle opponent. Paying one stock for a fetch is really good though.

[Cont] ASSIST All your characters in front of this card gains +500 Power.
[Act] [Choose 1 「Pendant of Promise」 in your memory and put it in the waiting room」 Choose 1 of your characters, and that character gains +1000 Power and +1 Soul for the turn.

Analysis: Looks like a standard 500 power support that gives +500 power at level 0 at first glance. However, the second ability plays with the Pendant of Promise mechanic and allows you to remove them from memory to give +1000 power and +1 soul. This is very strong with the mechanic and makes this a very viable card into the late game.

[Auto] When this card attacks, reveal the top card of your library. If it’s a character with either <Weapon> and/or <Daughter>, this card gains +2000 Power for the turn. (Put the revealed card back where it was)
[Auto] ENCORE [Discard a character card from your hand to the waiting room]

Analysis: A level 1 that costs 1 stock for 6000 base power. There is an interesting buff mechanic that makes you reveal the top card and if it shares a type, this character gets +2000 power for the turn. The encore ability is just gravy at this point. Overall, a decent uncommon.

[Auto] When this card is placed from hand to the stage, reveal the top card of your library. If it’s a climax card, rest this card. (Put the revealed card back where it was)

Analysis: Just like a lot of other sets with the 6000 power no cost level 1, there is a big drawback. This one is the reveal top card and rest this character if it is a climax card.

All your characters gain the following ability for the turn. 「[Auto] [(2)] This ability activates up to once per turn. When the battle opponent of this card becomes reversed, you may pay cost. If so, send the battle opponent to memory, then choose 1 character in your back row and this card and swap them. (Do not change the facing of the characters)

Analysis: An interesting level 3 card that costs 9 stock. Of course the ability to swap characters and to send your opponent into clock is very strong. The fact that this costs 9 is very expensive, not to mention, you still need to pay 2 stock per activation.

[Cont] If there are 3 or more colors among characters on your stage, this card gains +3000 Power.
[Act] [(1)] For the turn, this card gains +1000 Power and the following ability. 「[Auto] When the battle opponent of this card becomes reversed, you may put it on the top of the library.」

Analysis: A level 2 card that pushes the player to play more colors. A conditional level 2 that can potentially be a 9000 power as long as you have 3 different color characters in play. Not very hard to do in LB, but of course you could suffer from bounce effects. The second ability is also good as it can kill a draw step into the late game. An interesting level 2 that may see some play in specific decks.

Power 9500 Soul 2 <Magic>


[Cont] For each of your other <Magic> characters, this card gains +500 Power.
[Auto] When this card attacks, choose up to 1 「End of the Dream Story “Sakura”」 in your memory and put it in stock, then choose 1 of your characters, and that character gains +3000 Power for the turn.

Analysis: An interesting level 3 to say the least. This can potentially be a huge character with the first ability since most DC decks play around Magic characters. The second ability is a bit harder to judge as it seems to be strong with the conditional combo and builds your stock.  The buff to another character can also be big into the late game.
